Pacific Rim:Uprising Movie Review

Huge fan of the first one, and could not wait to get stoned to see second. Hopefully, it's good.

Pacific Rim Uprising is the sequel to the 2013 film by Del Toro, but now being directed by Steven DeKnight and starring John Boyega as the son Idris Elba's character forgot. I was quite looking forward to this film asIi was a huge fan of the first film, but had my doubts about it since it was basically a whole new team behind this one.

Story

Okay so if you’re going into this film looking for a compelling story, you came in with the wrong expectation for one and you will blow your high going to see this film. I laughed at parts of the story in here that was just stupid. But honestly i wasn’t expecting a great story from this film to begin with i came solely for the giant robots fights, and that they did well. the film wasted no time getting into the fighting and they managed to pull it off for me. Another thing that didn’t work for me was the ending it just ended so abruptly, like dang it was that simple to win okay. And the stinger at the end reminds me so much of Independence Day 2.

Characters

For the most part, they just tried to cram most of the characters in here and give them no character development to the point where some chargers really didn’t care. John Boyega's character, however, is one of the few likable characters in the film. Boyega is a very charismatic actor and it pretty much shows through his character in the movie, although he did talk about how pretty he is often, don't know about all that. But a character that was memorable for me in a bad way would be Charlie Day's Character. The twist that his character takes, he couldn't pull it off. now the twist makes sense and you would expect them to do something like that, but it could have been done better than that.

Visuals

This was the biggest thing I was worried about going into this film. The last one mostly took place at night so it could hide the bad cgi if needed, but this film had most of the scenes during the day and would have to say it held up pretty well. Were there some bad scenes? sure but all in all it lived up to the expectations i had for it. The robots didn't look too cartoony, nor the monster( PS they really only show up near the end.

Worth the wait

Overall, I am happy with what I got from this film. Was there flaws in the film? of course but I was not expecting this film to be a contender for the Oscars. It was a stupid, fun, action-filled movie and I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 Joints. the story issues kinda make it harder for me to give it higher, but it wont blow your high.Hopefully, the sequel will knock it out the park(trust me this is getting a sequel after it opens overseas.
