Tyler Perry's Acrimony -Movie Review

Image
"Hell hath no fury like a woman? Well, I think Tyler Perry may have pissed a bunch of them off with this movie." Tyler Perry's Acrimony if the latest movie by none other than Tyler Perry himself. The movie stars Taraji P Henson as the lead character Melinda Gayle, who has had enough of her man and his games you know the typical Tyler Perry Movie, but did tyler perry return to his old form and make a decent movie again? Hell No!. Story  This movie seemed like a pretty standard tyler perry drama with a hurt black woman, getting treated badly by a dark black man only to be saved by a light skin man, but oh it is far from that, hell this might be one of the best comedies of the year by accident. The dialogue is bad at times, and the choices the characters make are beyond stupid that I and everyone else in the theater just couldn't help but laugh, and I don't think this film had many scenes that were supposed to be funny. This movie was just that bad that

Ready Player One- Movie Review

Image
"With all the new tech coming out now, Ready Player One might not be too far in the future, wonder how the game playing experience is stoned " Ready Player One is the latest blockbuster by probably the greatest director of all time Steven Speilberg. It is based on the book of the same name, that pretty much rides the dick of 80's nostalgia and Steven Spielberg.  The movie follows Wade Watts who spends pretty much all of his time inside a VR game called The Oasis which allows the player to be anyone and anything they want to be. When the creator of the game dies he leaves behind three easter eggs for a player to find, and whoever finds all of them first will own The Oasis. The book has so many pop culture references that some think the property is unfilmable, but could the goat Speilberg make it work? Time to light up and find out. Story I personally have not read the book, but I have heard the story is different from the books, so if you are looking for a page for

Highlight opening of the week

Image
With Summer blockbuster Season coming around the corner this weekend we get a little taste of what is to come as well as a generic Tyler Perry movie in this week's Highlight films of the week.  Ready Player One Ready Player One is the latest film from the great Steven Spielberg based on the 2011 book by Earnest Cline of the same name. It stars Ty Sheradian as Wade Watts who spends pretty much all of his time inside a video game(like myself) called the oasis that allows the player to be anything they want to be. When the creator of the game dies he leaves behind three easter eggs for a player to find, and whoever finds all of them first will own the oasis. if you are a fan of 80's nostalgia this should be the film for you. I personally can't wait to be blown away by the visuals, here's hoping it will be a good high experience. Tyler Perry's Acrimony Tyler Perry's Acrimony is the latest men ain't shit film from Tyler Perry starring Taraji P. Hen

Box Office Highs and Downers

Image
Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher. This weekend we did get some shakeup in the top for a change with the new movies coming to box office, including a dethroning of a king. Which movies impressed and which ones blew it. Box Office Results(Top five only U.S domestic) 1.Pacific Rim: Uprising- 28 mil 2. Black Panther- 16.6 mil 3. I can only imagine 13.8 Mil 4. Sherlock Gnomes 10.6 Mil 5. Tomb Raider- 10.4 Mil (For full list visit Box Office Mojo ) Highs  Pacific Rim: Uprising Finally, a movie has come to take the number one spot away from Black Panther. Pacific Rim did okay in its first weekend taking the number one spot domestically with 28 mil, but we all know that this movie is gonna make its money from the overseas market (where it made back its budget already.)  I enjoyed the mo so I must say it's a welcome sight for me worldwide, but this movie might also appear again. Unsane Although it didn't

Unsane Movie Review

Image
The horror thriller that was shot completely on an iPhone, hopefully, it's not as cheap as it looks. Unsane is the latest movie by Steven Soderbergh that was shot completely on an iPhone camera (and probably some software we cant afford). The movie Stars Claire Foy as Sawyer who is paranoid that her stalker is still following her, but when she tries to get help get locked into a mental institute, now if you don't need a blunt after a day like that.  Could you tell it was on an iPhone? I mean it was shot on an iPhone 7 plus, of course, you can tell it was shot on an iPhone. as soon as I saw the trailer I could tell that it was just someone shooting on the iPhone it looks like a straight to CW film, but it was impressive how good Soderbergh could make it work though. I can't even get a good 30 second snap from my iPhone, but his ass can make a feature film and get it nationally released with his.  If only I had that kinda talent, but anyways, Soghher made a big de

Pacific Rim:Uprising Movie Review

Image
Huge fan of the first one, and could not wait to get stoned to see second. Hopefully, it's good. Pacific Rim Uprising is the sequel to the 2013 film by Del Toro, but now being directed by Steven DeKnight and starring John Boyega as the son Idris Elba's character forgot. I was quite looking forward to this film asIi was a huge fan of the first film, but had my doubts about it since it was basically a whole new team behind this one. Story Okay so if you’re going into this film looking for a compelling story, you came in with the wrong expectation for one and you will blow your high going to see this film. I laughed at parts of the story in here that was just stupid. But honestly i wasn’t expecting a great story from this film to begin with i came solely for the giant robots fights, and that they did well. the film wasted no time getting into the fighting and they managed to pull it off for me. Another thing that didn’t work for me was the ending it just ended so abruptly,

Highlight Openings This Week

Image
From giant robots, talking gnomes, and crazy stalkers looks like we have plenty of options to blaze and go see this weekend. This week we get films from plenty of different genres from action, horror/suspense, and kids film to go and enjoy. Some I can't wait to go out and see and others not so much.  Honorable mentions for the highlight films are Isle of Dogs which isn't really getting released in a lot of theaters and Midnight Sun which I don't want to even touch on in YA films Pacific Rim: Uprising  Probably one of the movies that I am most geeked for this year, Pacific Rim: Uprising is the sequel to 2013 film by del toro that built somewhat of a cult following. Although none of the main cast is really coming back, the film takes place a few years after the even with a new giant monster attack looming. This Just feels like the perfect blaze and watch film experience.  Sherlock Gnomes  Ugh. Sherlock Gnomes is the sequel to the film Gnomeo and Juliet I guess.

Box Office Highs and Downers

Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher. The top spot for this weekend was really only going to be either the current king of the box office Black Panther or the newcomer blockbuster from WB Tomb Raider, but who would come out on top. Top 5 The Top five domestic earnings of the weekend are: 1. Black Panther -  27 Mil 2. Tomb Raider - 23.5 Mil 3.  I Can Only Imagine - 17 Mil 4. Wrinkle in Time - 16.5 Mil 5. Love, Simone - 11.5 Highs Black Panther is still owning the box office after crossing the 1 billion mark last week and after being released over a month ago. Now if that ain't some legs I don't know what is. It looks like Marvel just gonna take all our money this year. I Can Only Imagine more than doubled its budget making a cool 17 mil at the box office in its first weekend. This comes at no surprise as faith-based movies typically get huge support from their base audience. Not my cup of tea, but good for the m

New Gods Movie Directed by Ava Duvernay- Quick Hit News

Image
To us comic book nerds the new gods is something we wanted to see on the big screen for awhile, but will Duvernay do it justice. A lot of sites are reporting that Director Ava Duvernay will direct a film for dc focusing on the New Gods of Apocolypse. That's right that would mean Darkseid, Big Barda, Mister Miricle, and my personal favorite granny goodness. Now I don't think they have said if it will be a live action or animated, but with Duvernay behind it, i would assume it would be a big live-action film, which kinda throws some red flags to me.  1st, Ava is coming off  Wrinkle in Time Which was a terrible movie story wise and visually did not impress my high ass. This is terrible because right now DC movies generally suck because of poor visuals and stupid story, Doesn't really sound like a match made in heaven. 2nd, DC yet again has announced another random film, now its time to see if they actually do anything with it. DC has announced as many movies as

Tomb Raider Movie Review

Image
After Assassins Creed I lost all hope for video game movies, hopefully, Tomb Raider can restore my faith. Tomb Raider Starring Alicia Vikander and Directed by Roar Uthaug. It's a reboot of the old sexy Jolie films and is now all aboard the woman's revolution making Laura Craft a strong female role model now. I personally loved the new rebooted games and got the feel from the trailers that they would follow the games so I sparked my blunt in hoping it would be good. Story  The story was so-so . It was kinda boring at times and the overall plot felt really stupid at the beginning, but I believe it smoothened out some over the course of the movie. The story was kinda hurt by being based off a game because they tried to incorporate game elements into a movie which turned out to be a terrible choice. Characters  The characters in the movie are pretty much all bland except for Laura. Vikander did pretty well in the role she was given and the character was pretty fa

High-Light openings of the Week

Image
High light openings of the week  Well, doesn't look like I will be using a lot of bud this weekend. This weekend we are only getting four big national releases, and only one of them sounds like it may have the chance of being good. Tomb Raider Easily the biggest film of the weekend. Tomb Raider is a reboot of the older Jolie films and is set to be based more on the newer rebooted games. The movie looks like it may have the potential to be the first good video game movie, but after assassins creed, I gave up on video game movies. Hopefully, Tomb Raider won't blow my high. 7 Days in Entebbe  Is a film  inspired by the true events of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight en route from Tel Aviv to Paris, the film depicts the most daring rescue mission ever attempted. From the trailers, it doesn't look too bad, but early reviews make me feel like this will be a downer for sure. Love Simon To be honest, I didn't know this, or the next film was co

Gringo Movie Review Spoiler free

Image
A stoner weed reviewer reviewing a movie about weed pills? Sounds fitting. Gringo, now first things first yes this movie does involve a weed pill but trust me this movie is not gonna be a stoner classic.the movie barely brings weed up at all which is kinda disappointing. this film is a comedy by Nash Edgerton and is the first big release from Amazon, but boy is it not funny. Story The way this movie was portrayed was a guy being taken by the cartel due to his bosses under the table dealings, but this movie really didn’t play like that at all. Yes, that eventually happened but this movie felt as if it wanted to have one plot play out but they smoke a bowl forgot about it and start another plot and just let the old one fizzle out.  The characters were hit and miss. David Oyelowo and Charlize Theron characters were probably the best of the bunch while the rest of the talented cast are easily forgettable.  Laughs For the most part, this movie takes its self-way to serio

The Strangers: Prey At Night Review

Image
Nothing like smoking a bowl and watching a horror movie for some scares but is The Strangers Sequal worth spending your money(and weed) on? The Strangers: Prey at Knight is the sequel to the 2008 classics, The Strangers, that was years in the making.the 2008 film is seen as a classic in many eyes, including myself, so I was kinda hype to be able to spark up and go see this one on the big screen, but this movie was somewhat of a letdown. Story The story of this movie follows a family with a troublesome daughter who goes off to drop her off to boarding school when they encounter a group of strangers trying to cause some trouble of there own. This movie story was bland to me. Seemed like every other forced horror sequel with not much originality in it what so ever( hell had me think I was watching Texas Chainsaw the way they copied one scene or could have been the weed). The main character is as about as stupid as they come forgetting about all the things they could do to get

A Wrinkle in Time Review Spoiler Free

Image
The latest Disney blockbuster Staring a giant anime Oprah, someone else must have been high on some hard stuff while making this  A Wrinkle in time a film by directorAva Duvernay is a highly anticipated Film from Disney with high expectations and it kinda didn't live up to the hype. Visuals  For someone like myself, this movie should be everything a stoner wants. A beautifully stunning movie, but it is far from that. The worlds they go to are bland as they come with no development and just seems like no one lives there. The villain is another CGI cloud of black smoke similar to the fantastic for movies that look cheap and the green screen is noticeable in some instances that sometimes look like a movie you’d see on Syfy.  Cast and characters The characters just like the rest of the movie were bland and seemed like they didn’t give to shits about the film. No character is really likable, they all come across as that guy who uses hardcore drugs and swears they are t
