Box Office: Highs and Downers- Avengers, A Quiet Place

Image
"Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher in this week's highs and downers" This was probably one of the easiest races for number one we have had in awhile, with Avengers Infinity War finally hitting theaters, we knew it would do gangbusters at the box office.  The real question for this weekend was how well will it do, and what movie came in second behind it. Results 1. Avengers: Infinity War - 250 Mil  2. A Quiet Place - 10.6 Mil 3. I Feel Pretty - 8.1 Mil 4. Rampage - 7.1 Mil 5. Black Panther- 4.3 Mil (For full results visit  box office mojo ) Highs   Avengers: Infinity War No surprise here, Thanos and the Avengers destroyed not only the MCU but also the box office this weekend making a whopping 250 Mil in its first weekend, taking the number 1 spot for the largest domestic opening in history over Star Wars: A Force Awakens. It also managed to break the worldwide record as well with 630 mi

Avengers: Infinity War- Movie Review (Minor-Spoilers)

Image
"The movie that has been 10 years in the making is finally here,  I think am going to cry" Avengers: Infinity War directed by the Russo Brothers is the end of the Marvel universe as we know it as Thanos, played by Josh Brolin,  finally gets off his ass to retrieve the infinity stones for himself in order to wipe out half the universe, but Captian America, Iron Man, Thor, and the other heroes that we have come to love may have something to say about that. This movie features pretty much every hero from the MCU that has been introduced to date, so we all knew we would be in for a thrill ride, but could the Russo brother pull off what many felt to be too ambitious and make a good movie with so much going on?  Could they make one of the best movies of the year with so much pressure? Boy did they. Highs  Story  The biggest problem people feared about this movies was the fact that they were going to have to fit 30 plus characters into a 2 and a half hour movie and givin

Traffik - Movie Review

Image
"Maybe they thought everyone would be too high this 4/20 weekend to know that this movie succkkkkkks" Traffik is the latest thriller directed by Deon Taylor starring Paula Patton and Omar Epps as a couple who go away on a romantic getaway when they find a phone that is very important to a group of traffickers who will do anything to get it back. They kinda were quiet about this film not showing too much and not allowing many, if any, early screening so that typically a bad sign that this film might not shit, but I was optimistic. Hopefully, Paula Patten and her fine ass would save this and maybe be a great thriller, but I was wrong. I was so wrong Story  You can tell they wanted to shine a light on a topic that is very rampant in the world today, human sex trafficking, which I appreciated but they could have done a much better job in giving us a good story while still informing us. The story seems like a generic thriller gone bad. The "twists" they try to

Super Troopers 2 - Movie Review

Image
"I wasn't old enough to blaze when the first Super Trooper came out, so hopefully the 17-year wait for the second will be worth the 4/20 session" Super Troopers 2 is the sequel to the 2001 hit movie Super Troopers. The movie pretty much brings back the entire cast to reprise their roles after 17 years as former state troopers who have lost their jobs after the events of the previous film but are given a second chance at law enforcement when they are asked to help transition a part of Canada into the US, along with the already established Canadian Mountie. After the first film everyone was asking for a second movie, then a few years past and everyone forgot it but that did not stop the studio until finally, they decided to release the sequel, and on one of the greatest holidays in the world. Was the movie able to strike gold and give us a stoner classic on 4/20?  Laughs We all know a movie like this is going to have a pretty shitty story, and this one is no di

I Feel Pretty - Movie Review

Image
"An Amy Schumer comedy about her weight, Ughhhhhhh" I Feel Pretty is the latest comedy starring comedian Amy Schumer Rennee Bennette a girl who is insecure about her weight and appearance, until one day she hits her head and now thinks she is the finest woman around. I personally am not a fan of Amy Schumer herself. Her the last couple of movies weren't good to me and I don't really care for her stand up either so you can expect that I did not want to see this movie. But I went into this film Lit and with an open mind and was hoping to be surprised by this movie, and have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought. Laughs  Like I said I don't really care for Amy Schumer type of comedy. She is kinda like Rebel Wilson and Melissa McCarthy were the majority of her jokes come from her being fat and guys not wanting her because she's fat which is beyond played out to me, and yes that kinda stuff is in the movie, but she managed to use some other jokes in the

Box Office Highs and Downers

"Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher in this week's highs and downers" The Friday the 13th weekend has come to a close, and now its time to see which movie had good or bad luck. With Rampage and Truth or Dare coming out this weekend, could the good word of mouth keep a quite place at Number One or did a newcomer steal that coveted spot. And a spoiler with some sad news black Panther finally fell out the top 5. Box Office Results (Domestic US Numbers) 1. Rampage- 34.5M 2. AQuiet Place- 32.6M 3. Truth or Dare - 19M 4. Ready Player One- 11.2M 5. Blockers - 10.2M (For full results visit box office mojo ) Highs A Quiet Place Well, I guess people just could stay quiet about A Quiet Place as it showed this weekend it has some legs. In its second weekend making 32.6M, it managed to almost take the number one spot again against some pretty good competition. I don't blame people I personally sparke

Truth or Dare 2018 Movie - Movie Review

Image
"Every year it seems Blumhouse manages to release one of those horror films that take us by surprise, so I mean there's hope for this movie" Truth or Dare is the latest horror flick that Jason Blum probably produced for 5 bucks staring Lucy Hale as Olivia who is tricked into playing a game of truth or dare with her friends that has deadly consequences. Jason Blum always throws out one film every year that seems like a piece of shit but somehow surprises everyone, with last year being Happy Death Day and Get Out, so many people were hoping although the film didn't look great maybe it could be a surprise hit. Welp, don't get your hopes up. Stroy  This film flips from wanting to be a true horror film or being a funny horror film throughout the majority of the movie which doesn't work. There were several scenes where someone would die and not even 10 seconds after someone makes a joke that doesn't really fit whats going on. Leaves you wondering whe

Top 5 Best Movies of Quarter 1

Image
"First quarter of 2018 is over, so let's take a look at the movies so far that I was glad to get lit too" With the summer blockbuster season fastly approaching, the first quarter of 2018 for film fans has come to an end. We had some movies that made us regreting rolling up and going to the movies, but we also got some films that were worth getting stoned for, So I think its only right to give some of these films some love. These are the top 5 movies of 2018 so far that blew me away. Now I am no superman, so I didn't really see everything that came out, so this list will be only based on movies I have seen. But before I get to my top 5, I'll give an honorable mention to Unsane and Game Night for just missing my Top 5. #5  Annihilation is a movie I did not review, but it barely manages to slip into my top 5, mostly due to not much competition around this time of the year. The movie received pretty mixed reviews from critics and fans, but overall I thought

Rampage -Movie Review

Image
"A giant monster movie should be the perfect stoned experience, but could Rampage deliver" Rampage is the latest giant monster blockbuster starring a giant man in Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, an as a primatologist who discovers one of his favorite apes has been exposed to a chemical turning him into a giant and sending him on a rampage through the city. It is based on the old arcade game of the same name which followed a group of monsters whos only purpose is to destroy the city. The game doesn't have much if any, story to go with, so could this movie make something out of nothing and possible give us a good video game movie.uhghh Story Like I said the game didn't give the film much help when it comes to story, so the writers needed to come up with something that would not only make sense but also be entertaining from the source material and that really didn't happen. This movie just seems like they watched a few giant monster movies and then copied a

Box Office Highs and Downers

"Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher in this week's highs and downers" Box Office Top 5 (Domestic US Totals) 1. A Quiet Place- 50 Mil 2. Ready Player One - 25 Mil 3. Blockers- 21.4 Mil 4.  Black Panther- 8.4 Mil 5. I Can Only Imagine- 8.3 Mil (For full results visit  Box Office Mojo ) Highs  A Quiet Place  No surprise as one of the best films of the year has taken the number one spot with a whopping 50 mil during its opening weekend, not bad for a borderline silent film. The movie had everything you could ask for in a horror film great story, great characters, and pretty good scares. This film is definitely a high you need to experience, but remember to stay quiet. Blockers For a comedy that I didn't think was gonna be too funny, it exceeded my expectations and did pretty good for itself in the box office making 21.4 mil its opening weekend against some pretty good movies. I personally liked the

Blockers - Movie Review

Image
"Cock blockers have to be the worst for everyone, let's hope a movie with that title won't be the same." Blockers, or as it should be called Cock Blocker since there is a cock in front of it, is the latest comedy starring WWE star John Cena, Leslie Mann, and Ike Barinholtz as three parents who discover their kids are planning a sex pack on prom night, and it is up to them to stop them from making a mistake they may regret. This movie reminded me somewhat of American Pie a little only with the girls trying to get laid, and I have to say I was entertained by the film. Cast/Characters Now I love John Cena, I'm a huge fan of him in WWE, but I know why some people might be worried about him being in this movie. His acting can be a little too much sometimes and he is not really a comedic actor, but I found him entertaining in this movie. He had a few jokes in here that made me laugh and he pulled off some of the serious moments well enough. it also helps when he

A Quiet Place - Movie Review

Image
"If they hear you, they will hunt you. Guess I shouldn't have hit this loud before going in then" A Quiet Place is a movie by John Krasinski, who also stars in it alongside his wife Emily Blunt as a couple along with their kids who are trying to survive after an alien species that is drawn by sound. Now the family must live in absolute silence or be hunted. A premise were the cast can not talk very much sounds like a hard thing to do in this day and age, but somehow Krasinski was able to pull it off. Cast/Characters A big reason why he was able to pull off a great movie was that of the work him and the other members of the cast were able to do with this material. John and Emily are a couple in real life so of course the chemistry would be there, and they were able to do so much in the film while barely saying a word. Emily was by far the stand out in the film and acted her ass off in the movie, and deserves some recognition for pulling off some of the hardest scenes
