Blockers - Movie Review

"Cock blockers have to be the worst for everyone, let's hope a movie with that title won't be the same."

Blockers, or as it should be called Cock Blocker since there is a cock in front of it, is the latest comedy starring WWE star John Cena, Leslie Mann, and Ike Barinholtz as three parents who discover their kids are planning a sex pack on prom night, and it is up to them to stop them from making a mistake they may regret. This movie reminded me somewhat of American Pie a little only with the girls trying to get laid, and I have to say I was entertained by the film.

Cast/Characters

Now I love John Cena, I'm a huge fan of him in WWE, but I know why some people might be worried about him being in this movie. His acting can be a little too much sometimes and he is not really a comedic actor, but I found him entertaining in this movie. He had a few jokes in here that made me laugh and he pulled off some of the serious moments well enough. it also helps when he has a good cast to work with.  Leslie and Ike were also fun in the movie, but that is to be expected since they both have a comedy background. they each had they own good scenes,  but the best laughs comes when they are together.

 The three of them had decent enough chemistry throughout the movie with not only each other but also their daughters, who were pretty good themselves. Geraldine Viswanathan is by far the stand out of the young group, probably being my favorite since she is a stoner in the film like myself, but other than that she is pretty funny throughout the movie. The other girls were fine in their roles, but in the end, Geraldine made the most out of her first big film.

Story/Laughs

The story felt a little American Pie ish to me, following a lot of the standard teen sex film tropes, but they did manage to make it feel a little fresh and unexpected in the movie.  I was entertained through the most part of the movie. They did use a few of the good jokes in the trailers, but there were still a few more good laughs in the movie. Now all the jokes didn't hit, and some jokes may have gone on too long,  but the way they set up and executed most jokes really worked for me. I was actually surprised that the beer chugging scene that they showed in every trailer and commercial actually made me laugh again in the movie, guess there is nothing funnier than ass beer. 

I really wasn't looking forward to this movie, but have to say I was impressed with the movie and glad I watched it. The story won't blow you away and not every joke will hit, but I laughed more than I expected and was entertained and what else can you ask for in a good high experience? I'll blow 3 out of 5 joints for this movie, nothing you'd want to rush out to see but if you got some free time, and looking for something to watch after smoking I don't think this would be a bad choice.
