Box Office: Highs and Downers- Avengers, A Quiet Place

"Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher in this week's highs and downers"

This was probably one of the easiest races for number one we have had in awhile, with Avengers Infinity War finally hitting theaters, we knew it would do gangbusters at the box office.  The real question for this weekend was how well will it do, and what movie came in second behind it.

Results

Highs

Avengers: Infinity War

No surprise here, Thanos and the Avengers destroyed not only the MCU but also the box office this weekend making a whopping 250 Mil in its first weekend, taking the number 1 spot for the largest domestic opening in history over Star Wars: A Force Awakens. It also managed to break the worldwide record as well with 630 mil destroying the old record.  This has been a movie some people have been waiting 10 years to play out, and from these box office results and reviews, it seems it was well worth the wait. This was probably the best high experience i had in the theater so far this year. Now we are all stuck wishing we had that time stone to go into the future and see the next one.

A Quiet Place

I Word of mouth has been great for this movie which has allowed it to stay at number two with 10.6 Mil even with Avengers coming out. The theater experience you get from this movie alone is a reason to go see it on the big screen. I have never been in a theater that was as quiet as the one when I went to see this. It's a good thing the fans can keep quiet about this movie, as it keeps making money

Downers

Any Other Movie in Theaters

The big downer for the Weekend is any movie that had the hard task of being in theaters when the Avengers came out. Rampage, I Feel Pretty and other movies knew it needs to move up early just to avoid the box office monster in Avengers and rightfully so as the rest of the movies numbers fell. Its hard to picture these movies making any more big money, but at least they got their money early on.
