Bad Samaritan - Movie Review
"David Tennant playing a crazy person fits him well, hopefully, he could save this movie"
Bad Samaritan is directed by Dane Devlin and stars Robert Sheehan as a poor Valet Driver named Sean who works for a restaurant who uses the customer's cars to return to their homes and steal their stuff. He one-day encounters a smug rich asshole named Cale, played by David Tennant, and sees this as the perfect score until he arrives at his house and sees that he has a woman chained up. Not knowing what to do, Sean must try to help the woman, while also having to avoid the crazy plans Cale has in store. The movie premise sound pretty decent and David Tennant has that crazy look down, so figured this could be an entertaining thriller to get stoned to watch. But did this movie deliver, or was Bad Samaritan just another bad movie?
Highs
Good Start
I was quite intrigued going into this movie. The premise seemed decent and Danny Tennant plays crazy well so it could be one of those thrillers that's actually good that you don't expect, and once the movie started it showed sparks fo being good. The showed signs that they were gonna have some character development and set up the situation pretty good, but once that's over it kinda loses me but we will get to that later. The premise was good, the start was decent, but the movie did not hold course with its efforts.
Crazy Tennant
David Tennant just looks like he could be a serial killer, so casting him as the crazy killer Cale in the film was a pretty good choice. He pulled off the crazy role great and pretty much was the best thing about the movie. I wish they would have done more with his character in terms of development because at some point they did start to set it up as if he had a reason behind his crazy, but later they pretty much said fuck it and forget about that. David Tennant was the best thing about this movie, if only they utilized time better.
Downers
Bad Cast/Characters
Other than David Tennant I really didn't know the rest of the cast and that was probably for a reason. A lot of the cast tried in the movie, but they really weren't that good in the movie and didn't have much to work with in terms of development. most of them are unlikeable and make the dumbest decisions throughout the movie that could have resolved the film a long time ago.
No one in the movie other than Tennant felt like they had any experience and Carlito Olivero who plays the best friend of Sean was not good at all in the movie and kind took me out the movie sometimes. Honestly, I did not like the rest of the cast and felt like they belonged in a straight to DVD movie.

Good start, Bad ending
Like I said the movie started with some promise, but as it went along it started to get really boring. I wanted to fall asleep throughout most of the second half of the movie. Nothing really happens as they play cat and mouse for awhile except sean going to the police about 50 times which got super dull and predictable. Honestly, I don't think but one person of meaning died in this whole movie. They let you know that Tennant's character is a crazy psycho killer, but they never actually show it, which is what I would have preferred to see. Near the end, they try to ramp it up to give you a little more action, but this really just felt like an episode of criminal minds that's going on for too long after a while.
Overall
I thought this movie was gonna have some potential, and for a good bit early on I thought it would be entertaining, but once the story progressed I started to realize that it was gonna blow my high. I give this 1.5/5 joints, you can wait till FX or someone gets this movie, don't rush out to blaze to this film.
