Box Office: Highs and Downers (May 11-13)

"Who took home the number one spot, and who need a session to get those numbers higher in this week's highs and downers"

You would expect for Avengers: Infinity War to keep its number one spot this weekend since there are no other blockbuster movies being released. But it is Mothers Day weekend and there are a few mother centered movies that might have a shot at the number one spot  this weekend (not really)

Highs

Infinity War Stays Strong

And still at the number one spot Avengers: Infinity War! It's no surprise that Thanos and the Avengers managed to stay at number one easily by making over 61 million in its 3rd weekend in release. Its reign at number one might come to an end this coming weekend with Deadpool 2 coming out, but I'm sure that Marvel and Disney are happy with the results The Avengers have been putting up now sitting at over 1.6 Billion worldwide so far. I still have hope that it will cross 2 billion

Mother's Show Out

With it being Mothers Day weekend you could expect for families to go out to see some movies together, so it was the perfect time to release two movies about mothers to take their money. Life of the Party and Breaking In did well in there opening weekend making 18.5 and 16.5 million respectively over the holiday weekend. Although not the greatest film, I thought Breaking In wasn't a high blower, so I am happy for its results. However, Life of the Party shows that people will go out to see Mellissa McCarthy no matter how shitty the movie is by making it the number 2 movie this weekend, which is good for the film but terrible for us which you'll see in a bit.

Downers

Life of the Party

Yes, this movie did great over the weekend, but we have got to stop going on to see a movie like this. This is probably the laziest and worse movie of the year by far, but we wouldn't be able to tell since it did so well over the weekend. This movie has been getting panned by critics and fans have started to grow tired of McCarthy and her husband movies giving this a low rating as well, but since this movie did well they will probably make another movie just as bad. Hopefully, one day when these two make another movie together that this bad, we won't go see it, so then the next time they have to at least try and make a good movie.
