Highlight Openings (June 1)
"The biggest movies that might be worth your time blazing to see this weekend"
This week we have a few different types of movies that are opening up for us to enjoy. We have an original feeling action movie, a romantic survival story, and a Jackass type comedy that will give us many options to blaze and go see this weekend. Here are the highlight movie opening that you should know about.
Upgrade
Directed by: Leigh Whannell Starring: Logan Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriell Rotten Tomato Score: 85%
My highlight opening of this weekend goes to Upgrade. It follows Gery Trace after a near-death experience takes away his ability to move, and kills his family. He decides to undergo an experimental computer chip program that grants him the ability to walk again along with a bunch of new abilities that will allow him to take vengeance on the people who hurt him and took the life of his wife. This movie looks like a fun action movie that doesn't try to copy the superhero genre that everyone else is trying to do now. Heres hoping this movie is as good as it looks. (PS no that isn't Tom Hardy in the movie)
Adrift
Directed by: Baltasar Kormakur Starring: Shailene Woodly and Sam Claflin Rotten Tomato Score: 57%
Adrift is based on the true story of survival of Tami Oldham time lost stranded at sea after being hit by a massive storm along with her lover Richard Sharp. The story is all inspiring and was bound to get the big screen treatment. If you like movies such as Castaway and Life of Pie this might be something that interests you. Is it as good as those movies though well that's a whole nother story.
Action Point
Directed by: Tim Kirkby Starring: Johnny Knoxville, Derek Freda, John Altschuler Rotten Tomato Score: N/a
Action Point is the latest movie for Johnny Knoxville to try to kill himself in. The story will follow Knoxville as an owner of an amusement park that has hit hard times. So in order to increase attendance, he decides to get rid of rules and make all his rides as fast, fun and dangerous as possible to get people excited. This movie is pretty much just going to be a bunch of real stunts, so if you like seeing people hurt themselves for laughs, this might be the movie for you.
